Wendi Mortimer Swanson a Serrano graduate participated in commencement ceremonies on May 21, 2015 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium receiving a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Western University of Health Sciences.
Wendi has lived in Wrightwood for more then 30 years and has practiced nursing for 26 years. Her education started locally with an Associate of Arts degree from Chaffey College. Upon earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from San Diego State University, she specialized in Critical Care Nursing for the next 12 years. Wendi obtained a Master of Science Degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 2000. She has been practicing as a nurse practitioner in Primary Care and most recently in Student Health Services at a local community college. In 2011, Wendi also started teaching at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Graduate Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. She started coursework within the Doctor of Nursing Practice program in 2013. Her dissertation examined strategies to sustain improved physical activity behaviors and healthy body mass index outcomes in college students.
Wendi plans to share her knowledge of clinical prevention and population health through conferences and speaking engagements along with further development in nursing curriculum and clinical programs while maintaining a full-time position in academia and part-time clinical position.
Steinmann makes Dean’s List
A junior at Kutztown University, Pennsylvania, Geneva Steinmann has made the Dean’s List four out of her five semesters of study. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must be registered for 12 units and have a minimum GPA of 3.60.
Geneva’s major is Special Education for the Visually Impaired. She will also have a degree in Elementary Education Pre K – 4, and her minor is Psychology.
As a senior at Serrano High School, Geneva learned to read Braille for her Senior Project. Her mentor was Nancy Cook. This was the catalyst for her interest Special Education. She graduated in 2011.
Geneva is the oldest of Jeff and Annie Steinmann’s 11 children. When asked if she would like to tell us something about her life in Wrightwood, Geneva said, “I could not have gotten here without the support of my friends and family.”
PROVIDENCE, RI (01/04/2013) -- Andrea DePauw, a resident of Phelan, CA and a member of the class of 2013, has been named to the Dean's List at Providence College for the Fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.
