Sample Wedding - fanciful
Miss Mary R. Smith Weds John H. Jones, Jr.
Miss Mary Rose Smith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Westfield,
was married on Saturday, May 2, to John Henry Jones, Jr. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Henry Jones, Sr. of Manhattan.
The afternoon ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Manhattan with the
Reverend Milton Dobbs officiating. A reception followed at the Gotham Inn in
Manhattan.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless white silk satin
A-line gown featuring beaded embroidery and a chapel-length train. She carried
a bouquet of white roses, hydrangea and mini calla lilies.
Miss Lisa Smith of Westfield was the maid of honor for her sister. The bridal
attendants included Mrs. Linda Smith of Boston, Mass., sister-in-law of the
bride; Ms. Karen Jones of Philadelphia, Pa., sister of the bridegroom, and Ms.
Patricia Quinn of Staten Island, N.Y., a friend of the bride. All wore deep
pink gowns and carried bouquets of pink roses with hydrangea.
Miss Susan Smith of Boston, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore a
floor-length white dress and carried a bouquet of pink rose petals.
Michael Jones of Manhattan, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man.
Serving as groomsmen were Mark Smith of Boston, brother of the bride; Stephen
Gray of Staten Island, N.Y. and James Porter of Baltimore, Md., both friends of
the bridegroom.
Alexander Smith of Boston, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Dr. David Dill of Manhattan, a friend of the couple, and Mrs. Katherine Cooper
of Staten Island, aunt of the bride, did scripture readings.
A 2000 graduate of Westfield High School, the bride earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in English from Seton Hall University in South Orange in 2004. She is
employed as a teacher at New York Preparatory School.
The bridegroom, a 1998 graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in
Manhattan, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from New York University
in 2002. He is employed as a stage manager at the Winter Garden Theatre in
Manhattan.
The parents of the bridegroom hosted the rehearsal dinner the evening before
the wedding at Tavern on the Green in Manhattan.
The maid of honor and bridal attendants hosted a bridal shower in March at
Ferraro’s in Westfield.
Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Manhattan.

Ms. Susan Lee Swift To Wed Tucker J. Lewis
Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Swift of Westfield have announced the engagement of their
daughter, Ms. Susan Lee Swift, to Tucker James Lewis. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa.
A 1996 graduate of Westfield High School, the bride-to-be received a Bachelor
of Science degree in Biology from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. in
2000. She is employed as a lab technician with Future Labs in Manhattan.
The future bridegroom graduated from Philadelphia Central High School in 1995
and from Boston College in Chestnut Hill in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Graphic Arts. He is a graphic designer for Colorite in Manhattan.
The couple will be married in the spring of 2010.

Chaplins Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Chaplin of Westfield celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on Saturday, June 20, at a party hosted by their children at the
James Ward Mansion in Westfield.
A native of New York City, Mr. Chaplin graduated from New York University with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He was employed as an editor with the
New York Times before retiring in 1999.
Mrs. Chaplin, the former Miss Mary Ryan, had been employed as a secretary with
the Green Company before retiring in 2000.
The couple is active with the local American Legion and Habitat for Humanity.
The Chaplins’ family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward, Jr. and
Susan Chaplin of New York City and John and Jane Chaplin of Boston, Mass., and
three grandchildren, Tyler, Tracey and Timothy.
